DWCC and RE/ACT

DWCC and RE/ACT

The DWCC is a community of neighbours and friends who are committed to sharing in the ongoing renewal of downtown Windsor. Renewal happens when our neighbourhoods are good places to grow up and grow old, so we focus on initiatives that bring people out of isolation and connect them into loving community. At the centre of the DWCC is a covenant community that sustains us for the long haul. Check out their site here.

RE/ACT offers a safe space for individuals to explore and heal from addictions and personal trauma. Amazing things happen when you take back control of your life. Check out their site here.

Prayer Requests

Right now physically – we need a ‘handyman’ at the Women’s House to finish off some minor repairs

We need volunteers to help with building shelves in Glengarry for the community pantry.

We are looking to build welcome wagon like baskets for the 50-100 new people expected over the next year. These would include single bedsheets, toiletries, tim’s cards etc in a laundry basket. We need a team of people who would be interested in helping put these baskets together.

Financially, there are a couple items we am looking at:  Outdoor activities for our ACCEL youth program www.reactwindsor.ca/accel  (once a week we will take the cohort of youth (12-17 yrs) on an outdoor activity such as equine therapy, skateboarding, canoe trek in the summer).  This is a time to process the lesson material from earlier in the week.

Another is a new program for persons living on the streets  called EnRoute – it is a curriculum that costs $2,500 and takes complex trauma to the streets.
